ABOUT US
Stye treatment at CARE
At Clinique CARE, we offer an advanced solution for the treatment of styes using intense pulsed light therapy (IPL) combined with photobiomodulation (LLLT). This non-invasive method is designed to quickly and effectively relieve stye symptoms, while reducing the risk of recurrence.
What is an Orgelet?
A stye is an acute inflammation of the eyelid glands, caused mainly by a bacterial infection. It may appear as a small, red, painful pimple at the base of the eyelashes (external stye) or inside the eyelid (internal stye). Styes are often caused by staphylococcus bacteria and can cause swelling, redness and significant pain.
Initial assessment
The process begins with a thorough assessment of the patient's eyelid condition:
- Visual examination: The optometrist examines the eyelid for styes or other abnormalities.
- Meibomian Gland Scan: Using advanced technologies to visualize the Meibomian glands and assess their condition.
Intense Pulsed Light (IPL) treatment
IPL therapy is used to target abnormal blood vessels and blocked glands, helping to reduce inflammation and liquefy solidified secretions. This treatment has been proven effective in the rapid resolution of styes:
- Mechanism of action: IPL heats the Meibomian glands to clear obstructions and reduce inflammation.
- Results: Patients often see an improvement in symptoms within a few sessions, with complete resolution in 2 to 3 weeks in most cases.
Photobiomodulation (LLLT)
Photobiomodulation (LLLT) uses low-energy LED lights to stimulate cells and promote healing:
- Inflammation reduction: LLLT has anti-inflammatory and antibacterial effects, helping to reduce the size and pain of styes.
- Cell stimulation: Light stimulates the mitochondria of cells, increasing cellular activity and promoting tissue regeneration.
Benefits of Combination Treatment
- Non-invasive: No incision, medication or injection required.
- Efficacy: Rapid improvement in symptoms, with a significant reduction in inflammation.
- Comfort: Treatment is well tolerated and minimizes discomfort.
Follow-up and post-treatment care
After treatment, patients should follow certain recommendations to prevent recurrence:
- Eyelid hygiene: Use cleansing wipes to keep eyelids clean.
- Blepharitis control: Blepharitis patients need to follow regular cleaning routines to avoid new infections.
